Hello, everyone.
I’m feeling particularly unproductive and non-writerly today (could it be the Paw Patrol theme song on loop in the background?), but wanted to introduce my new column, Beauty Mark, because it’s my new obsession and is just so cute and catchy, don’t-cha-think?
The topic of *beauty*—in all its forms—has been heavy on my mind for awhile now, but I’d like to dissect both the aesthetically pleasing and less obvious things that make us get out of bed in the morning, like a limited edition pink lipstick and the power of an impromptu dinner with dance moms, rather than, say, the pros and cons of a $400 laser treatment.
Know what I mean? Less “I tried these 42 eye serums and here’s what worked,” and more, “How To Be Happy, Aesthetically,” and “Searching for Happiness, Finding Weird Jackets.” Feel me?
Your beauty is paramount—to yourself and to others—in that it is your own. And I’m not just talking looks, here. Beauty lies in our appearance, of course, but also our behavior, our thoughts, our habits, our actions and our decisions.
Like the infamous Stanley Tucci (better known as Nigel) mocks Andy when she dismisses the importance of her—and everyone’s, for that matter—appearance in The Devil Wears Prada:
“Yes, that’s really what this whole multi-BILLION dollar industry is all about anyway, isn’t it? INNER beauty.”
Stan. What a legend.
Anywho.
