Tis the season for gifting

“Giving promotes social connection. Studies show that when you give to others, your generosity is often continued down the line to someone else, or returned to you.” -Google

HIE friends.

The supply chain shortage has everyone in a frenzy. And in true American fashion, we are worried about buying Christmas presents on time instead of how we’re going to afford gas.

While it’s more convenient to google “What to get my 4-year-old nephew” and buy whatever top toy pops up, that method of gifting doesn’t make us feel good. Why? Because it isn’t special. When you aren’t putting forth an actual effort in your gift-giving pursuits, you’re left feeling shitty because you’re taking the easy way out.

In-person shopping & gifting not only makes us feel good, but it is an excellent activity that releases dopamine, lowers blood pressure, increases self-esteem, lessens depression, and lowers stress levels. Science tells us so.

So! Give your Amazon driver a break and head to your local shops for everyone you need to buy for this year.

Here are my fool-proof gift giving ideas

Whether you’re looking for your sister, mom, mother in-law, or friend, you can’t go wrong with these:

  • Candles

  • Wine

  • Magazine subscription

  • Coffee subscription

  • Coffee mugs

  • Cookbook

  • Coasters

  • Fluffy (or silk) robe

  • Board game

  • Flower delivery subscription

  • Statement vase

  • Plane ticket to come visit you

  • Tickets to a show

  • Bose headphones

  • Personal styling appointment

  • Colorful kitchen towels (sounds boring but TRUST ME, is not)

  • Sleep mask (a good one)

Happy gift giving.

Ciao!
