10 Ways To Improve Your Mental Health This Fall
The second you're feeling off, do one (or all) of these things to get back on track.
Happy Tuesday, Readers.
The weather is getting grosser and our moods are starting to match. This doesn’t have to be the case, though. Rainy days don’t have to equate to a dreary state of mind. They can actually be the best days for creativity and productivity if you play your cards right.
And by play your cards right I mean take care of your mind—Take your vitamin D supplements. Do your daily workout. Keep in touch with friends. Eat healthy, comforting foods and take luxurious showers. Make a hair appointment and get a new lipstick. Peruse some new-to-you shops in your free time. Keep things interesting.
In addition to the suggestions (demands?) I just touted, here are 10 tried and true ways to boost your mental health *immediately* once you start feeling ew. You’re welcome and enjoy.
Organize your closet.
This is so therapeutic and oddly thrilling. You will come across items you’ve long forgotten about, discover treasures you thought were lost forever, and find endless options to style yourself simply by reorganizing your existing wardrobe.
Make yourself a warm and delicious drink.
Oat milk lattes. Hot chocolates. Teas. All good for the mind (and body and soul). If you’re running low on energy or just feel blah because the weather is getting you down, make yourself a fabulous fall drink and sit down to fully enjoy it.
Blast Taylor Swift and sing along at the top of your lungs.
I do this regularly and find it energizing, calming and freeing, all at once. And really with any singer, usually in the car, but Taylor Swift is Taylor Swift and she has a million songs to run through. Highly recommend it.
Do a calming, long, skincare routine.
Treat yourself to a spa-like experience in your own bathroom wearing your plush robe and slippers. Exfoliate, moisturize, mask, do whatever your skin is begging you to do for a little refresh. Light some candles and put on some mood music for good measure.
Journal your life goals.
This sounds…a little ridiculous, I know, but it’s actually really fun. My life goals range from having a glass of wine with Sarah Jessica Parker in NYC to owning a boutique to vacationing in a new country with my husband every year. Once you start writing, the life goals will keep coming. It’s a fun exercise. Give her a whirl.
